FreelancerPeople is a marketplace where independent sellers offer freelance services (called SERVEs) and digital products. Because every service is different, sellers set their own prices. There is no fixed catalogue price; instead, the exact amount you pay is always shown clearly on the service page and again on the checkout screen before you confirm. All amounts on the platform are in US dollars (USD).

Free to join

Creating an account is free for both buyers and sellers. There is no subscription, no monthly charge and no listing fee. You only pay when you actually purchase a service or product.

What a buyer pays

When you place an order, your total is made up of three clearly itemised parts, all displayed at checkout:

• The seller's price - the amount the seller has set for the SERVE package, custom contract, or digital product you are buying.
• Buyer service fee - a platform fee of 10% of the order value that supports Payment Protection, payment processing, and support. This fee is reduced for high-volume buyers (down to 8% and 6% at higher lifetime-spend tiers).
• Taxes - any applicable tax (such as GST or VAT) is calculated per the rules that apply to you and shown separately.

Payment Protection

For freelance orders, your payment is held securely in Payment Protection by the platform. It is not released to the seller until you accept the delivery, the review window shown on your order passes, or a dispute is resolved. This means your money is protected from the first message to the final delivery.

What a seller earns

Sellers receive their set price for completed orders, minus a platform commission that is shown transparently in the seller's earnings and order details. Sellers can withdraw available earnings to a verified payout method after identity verification.

Refunds

If an order is cancelled or a refund is approved, the amount is returned in line with our Refund & Cancellation Policy, including the buyer service fee and tax charged on the refunded items.

Payment methods

Payments are processed securely through our payment partners. Buyers can pay using supported cards and other methods offered at checkout, and every transaction is protected by Payment Protection. The available methods are shown on the checkout screen.

Fee percentages, tax and any request windows can change over time and are always shown to you at checkout and in your order details, which are the authoritative version of any figure on this page.
